A five week Bible Study began June 18, and will continue through July 23.. We are studying
Kay Arthur's workbook Lord, Teach Me to Pray. It is a five-session, video-driven study,
practicing a powerful pattern of prayer, based on the Lord's Prayer. During this study you
will gain insights into how to pray, what to pray, and what to expect when you pray. The
workbook can be purchased at Life Way Christian Book store, 4540 James, or 5900
Southwest Loop 820 for $11.95. Don't let this he a deterrent to attending the class.
Place: Westminster Presbyterian Church, 7001 Trail Lake (corner of Altamesa Blvd.).
Rooms for the study and a nursery will graciously be provided. Contact: Jackie Kunke at
817-292-5427 if you have questions, and/or plan to attend and the number of children you

Christian Community Assistance Volunteers
Christian Community Assistance (CCA) is experiencing an extreme shortage of volunteers.
We know that it is difficult to find time to volunteer but we could sure use your help for
whatever time you have available. We need receptionists for Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday or Friday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to Noon ( just 2 hours) and from 1 to 5 p.
m. on Monday. We also need food pantry volunteers for Wednesday afternoon from 1 to 5
p.m. (to fill orders for scheduled clients.) You can also be an "on call" volunteer if you
cannot volunteer on an ongoing basis. If you are willing to answer this need, please talk to
Rex or Ches Weeks. You can also contact Tommie Elliott, Assistant Director, for CCA at
817-921-9622 or e-mail (ccaassistant@att.net).
CCA Urgent Needs
Small Boxes of tea, Cornbread Mix, Sugar (5 lb.) bags, Flour (5 lb.) bags, Macaroni &
Cheese, Instant Potatoes, Crackers (Saltines) and Cooking Oil
What Exactly is this Stephen Ministry We've Been Hearing About?
Stephen Ministry is a caring ministry. Stephen Ministers are not counselors or therapists;
rather, they are caring Christian friends who can offer a listening ear to help others through
the tough times in life. Stephen Ministers are trained and supervised in their ministry. If you
are going through a tough time and could use a caring friend, let us know. To find out more
about Stephen Ministry or to receive a Stephen Minister's care, fill out the pew card, place
it in the envelope and seal it, and place it in the offering plate.
Small Dinner Groups
The Small Dinner Groups are about ready to start up again! If you have expressed an
interest in participating by filling out a card, you have been randomly assigned to a group
(unless somebody goofed)! By drawing names out of a hat, it's hoped we get a mixture of
folks in a group who either don't know each other at all, or else know each other well but
have not yet been in a group together.
Your group leader will be letting you know in the next week or two whose group you're in.
Since the groups are self-governing, your first dinner may be either in June or July,
depending on the will of the group. The rules are pretty loose, designed to be fun for all.
By the way, we're looking for a name for this activity. Two mentioned so far are: Saints and
Sinners and Burnt Offerings. If anyone has an idea, send it to your Parish Life Committee.
If you signed up and haven't heard from a Group Leader by mid-June, or if you didn't sign-
up and have changed your mind and want to participate, call Sue Warner (817-737-5176)
or Karen Williams (817-297-7721).
Help Needed for School Recycling Project
Anyone and everyone who has unused, unwanted, old or new phone books, please bring
them to church to be recycled. My niece is doing a recycle fund-drive for her school. Thank
you for your help and time. Huong Reaves (817-263-4070)
Noonday Prayer - Baylor-All Saints, 8th Avenue - Volunteer Needed
A volunteer is needed to read Noonday Prayer in the beautiful Episcopal Chapel at Baylor-
All Saints Hospital at 1400 8th Avenue (downtown) on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
There has been a long tradition of parishioners from St. Christopher who have provided this
worthwhile service. We read the service in the Book of Common Prayer. Instruction will be
provided. The service includes prayers for hospitalized patients and hospital personnel.
For More information call Deacon Janet Nocher (817-975-4863, cell) or Marilyn Vivar in
the Chaplain's Office (817-927-6150). Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.
