St. Christopher Episcopal Church
To Know Christ and Make Him Known
New Chapel, Family Life Center and Other Improvements
St Christopher is expanding. At a Special Meeting on May 22, 2007, the Vestry unanimously
approved the proposal of Tarrant Construction Services Ltd. for additions and improvements to
St. Christopher Episcopal Church. The construction program, designed by DMS Architects, Inc.,
includes the following:

  • New and larger chapel with a signature design feature, the soaring chapel tower with a
cross that can be seen from a distance.
  • New large multi-purpose space for family and youth activities.
  • New rest rooms convenient to the Church, Parish Hall, offices and new multi-purpose
    spaces.
  • New kitchen space, to be finished as funds become available.
  • New inviting entrance lobby at the office.
  • Renovate the office spaces as needed to change the entry location.
  • Improvements to the visual appeal of the St. Christopher buildings and grounds to make
    them more inviting and friendly.
  • Update the facade of the administrative building and Parish Hall, to unify the new and old
    portions of the building.
  • Provide all-weather covered and single-level circulation throughout our public facilities,
making them more accessible to the disabled and more convenient for all.
  • Improve drainage at the front of the existing building.
  • Enclose a courtyard at the front of the church to serve in future as a prayer garden and
expansion for our columbarium, when needed.

Thanks to several generous donations, on March 10, 2008, the Vestry authorized the Senior and
Junior Wardens to execute a change order to add Alternate "A" - Finishes and Cabinets at Kitchen
121 to the contract with Tarrant Construction Services Ltd. This change allows for a complete
and operational kitchen as a part of the Family Life Center.

Limited funds require us to delay additional high priority work (amounts needed are in parenthesis):
  • Additional parking for the church and school ($60,225),
  • A convenient passenger drop-off at the church entrance ($42,406).
  • Glass-enclose the newly covered area at church and school entry at the courtyard and air
    condition the space ($39,018).

We have bids for these items and can proceed quickly to complete this work, should additional
funds or unexpected cost savings become available while the Construction Manager's forces are
working on site.

About three years ago, St. Christopher Episcopal Church started the Living, Growing and Giving
in Faith capital campaign to update and expand out facilities. God is blessing us abundantly!
Construction is underway, and we expect to be fully using the new facilities by the end of the
year. We have come a long ways. The following links remind us where we started.

  • If you have not made a pledge to the Building Fund, or if you are a new member or if your
circumstances allow you to increase your previous pledge, it’s a good time to prayerfully
consider your part in the growth of St. Christopher. Pledge cards are available in the office
    or attached.
  • You may also make a gift through your estate planning, e.g., wills, real property, stocks,
bonds, trusts, endowments, life insurance, and contributions from reverse mortgages.
    Please contact the Church Treasurer.
  • Make checks payable to: St. Christopher Episcopal Church and write “Building Fund” on
    the memo line.

A Prayer for Living, Growing, and Giving in Faith

Almighty God, In You we live and move and have our being.  Help us to remember that all we
have comes from you.  We come to you now in faith, ready to respond to the challenge of
providing for the present and future needs of our St Christopher family.  We pray for the
generosity of sacrifice that we may know and do what is required of us to further Your work, to
grow in knowledge of Your truth, and in faithful worship of You, our God.   Help us who have
received so freely from You to give as freely in return.  And may Your goodness be upon us and
bring success to our labors.  We ask in the name of Your Son, Jesus, our Lord, Amen.
